American LEVIS 1853

LEVIS is one of the most famous names from the western United States. It is also the name of Levi Strauss, inventor of the world's first jeans.

Levi Strauss emigrated from Germany to New York at the age of 17 in 1847. The news of the gold rush in California in 1853 made the young Strauss quite fascinated. He took several rolls of tents and canopies for sale to the rapidly growing residents. But he found that the canvas had better use. So he sent the unfinished canvas to tailors to order the first LEVIS jeans. On that day, the legend of LEVIS was born.

The young Strauss soon opened its first store in San Francisco. He produces many waist tights. Afterwards, he gave up the canvas and switched to denim, a tough cotton cloth woven from French textiles with a non-discoloring indigo dye.

Strauss made many original improvements from 1860 to 1940, including rivets, arched double horse guarantee leather label and back pocket flag, these are now the world famous authentic LEVIS jeans logo.
